About the authors:
Roger and Carol were career rangers with the National Park Service, serving in five national parks across the country, with more than 40 years of combined service in Yellowstone. Their work was primarily in visitor education and park management, sharing these treasured places with people from all over the world.
Roger began his career as a field ranger at Old Faithful and went on to serve as Yellowstone’s Chief of Cultural Resources and editor of the park’s journal, Yellowstone Science. His final assignment was as the Superintendent of an NPS Training Center, developing the next generation of employees to preserve the parks.
Carol directed the ranger-led program in the park’s Lake District before working for the NPS’s Washington DC Headquarters developing a nationwide coaching and mentoring program for rangers specializing in Resource Education. In her final assignment, she was the National Coordinator for the NPS Civil War to Civil Rights Commemoration.
They have now retired and live near Yellowstone. Perhaps you’ll see them on the trail!
